Automatic Question Answering Software

Inferret Limited has developed a novel approach to automatic question answering (QA) that uses entirely statistical methods. This has allowed it to rapidly prototype QA systems in many languages. A web-based demo system called askEd! is available here. The underlying technology can be trained to answer questions in specific domains or languages and can automatically learn from being exposed to users' questions.

Automatic Speech Recognition Software

Inferret Limited has developed its own proprietary speech recognition software which is available for use under both research and commercial licences. The technology is currently being used in a production environment to recognise speech in a voice-driven search application. The speech recognizer can be trained to recognize speech in any language (given appropriate training data). Inferret's speech recognition capabilities are complemented by a suite of post-processing tools which increase the functionality and performance of the speech recognizer.

Automatic Sentence Segmentation and Normalization Software

Using an approach similar to that used in speech recognition, Inferret has developed software that can automatically "chunk" or segment text into sentences. The software can also be used to segment text in languages such as Chinese and Japanese where there are typically no space delimiters between word units. The software has applications in the areas of speech recognition, language processing and information retrieval.
